Mid-Weekend Update

New rule number one: no matter how late you slept, no matter if you didn't have any coffee first thing in the morning... never drink coffee at 4:00 in the afternoon. Because you will never, EVER get tired. It's 11:30, and honestly, it feels like the middle of the day!

Watched two movies last night: Big Fish and Punch-Drunk Love. Big Fish=good. We agreed that it took a while to get going, (I kept dozing off during the first half hour) but it never dragged to the point of wanting to turn it off. And Ewan McGregor! uh-huh... he's my new boyfriend, I think. yeehaw..!
Punch-Drunk Love, on the other hand, is one REAL messed up movie. I knew it wasn't a comedy.. but I didn't expect it to be so - creepy, I guess.

I've got the SHORT hair going again.. and happily so. I missed the brush and go style. I'm free of the blow dryer for a while! I'll probably grow it back out again in the winter.. but for now, it's good to have ears showing again. I bought a bunch of cute earrings to celebrate. AND - bonus - I've had a couple of people tell me how much younger I look with it short. It's only a matter of time, CuzGirl, until I'm carded at the bars!

Tomorrow I have to run out to visit dad's grave site..(note to self - pick up hershey bar! why leave flowers for him when he was the biggest chocoholic ever??) and yes, get cleaning done as well. :sigh: I miss the cleaning lady.

And what are YOU up to? Ciao.

It's raining and cloudy, so it must be Saturday!

Read this article that was on MSNBC (it doesn't require registration or anything, Dame!). Then, let's just all plan the party where we sit around and drink and wait for the end of the world, because NO ONE in the government - or anywhere else - really knows what's going on.

I know that my dad's looking down from heaven on this memorial today and that he's so very proud. I'm glad they're giving these guys the recognition they deserve.

What the hell, man. Tell ya what? Let me decapitate these guys. Slowly. Instant death penalty for anyone who hurts a child, how about that? Nothing makes me more crazy-angry.

Oh, those poor Microsoft workers... they'll have to get GENERIC prescriptions instead of brand name in their NO COST HEALTH PLAN?? Oh - how do you LIVE? (oooh, the news is makin' me all whipped up today!)

How about some nice therapy for this guy? How'd you like to be his poor wife?

Here in Minnesota - the state where absolutely nothing is allowed - it just figures that they'd crack down on gas stations that are trying to sell gasoline for cheap!

Pat Tillman (the former NFL player) was killed by friendly fire. So sad. Such a waste.

Going to get my hair cut by a REAL stylist today.. (because really, you get what you pay for.). And - dare I say it - maybe it's getting a little lighter out there. Think I'll run between the raindrops to the farmers' market. Have an excellent day. Ciao, Bellas.

Nice try, fella. That would have been a quick $5K.

Yikes! This'll put me off airplane travel for a couple days.

Why can't there be a picture of this?!? Lady - it's just a car.

Reason # 872 to move: I didn't get to start the laundry until after 9:00 last night. Evidently, Thursday night is laundry night and I didn't get the memo. Oh yeah - I will trade a balcony for an in-unit washer/dryer in a heartbeat.

And I just looked at the forecast. Friday night - Saturday - Sunday: cloudy and raining all.the.time. Please God.. let 'em be wrong! It's beautiful this morning, though. Enjoy it while you can (see? this is why you should all get up early!). Have an excellent day. Ciao.

Fantasia wins it all on American Idol. The show could have probably been about 20 minutes long rather than two hours long! But she truly deserved it.. this is a girl who has been working toward this goal her whole life, it seems. And I'm guessing that Diana will do just fine as well.

Here's a weird site for today. I have no words...

So - there ya have it. American Idol and a weird tron costume.. I got nothin' else yet today. Maybe I have to make the rule about no blogging when I have nothing to say. Of course, that's never stopped me in REAL life, why change anything now? hee hee... Have a beautiful day. Ciao.

Well, this is certainly a little freaky. How much are we gonna change our daily lives because of it?

The abuse scandal in the church is finally hitting Boston where they live - in their pocketbook.

Aspirin may just be the wonder drug. (although the way I pop it like candy some days...)

Goodbye, Phish.

I had no idea that my old Saturn was such a hot car (literally!). Good thing I have a newer one now.

I watched just the last 20 minutes or so of American Idol last night. Long enough to listen to Diana's very pitchy "Don't Cry Out Loud" (but I did cry.. it was horrid), and Fantasia's - well - whatever that song was called, it was GREAT and it made me cry, but for a different reason. She's far and away the better singer. Hope she wins tonight.. and next year, Dame, I don't think I can watch again. But Big Brother? Well, that's a different story.

What's the bright, glowing orb in the sky? Why, I do believe it's something called the sun. It's been damp and cloudy for so long... I know that's what has been contributing to my damp and cloudy mood. If it stays halfway sunny I'm going to get outside a bit at lunchtime. I need a little natural light.

Behave yourselves. Ciao.

Next time you think your life is a nightmare, just remember: at least the FBI hasn't mistaken you for a terrorist.

I guess there's really nothing better to do in Georgia and North Carolina than to worry about the outcome of American Idol. I don't know if I'll even watch. Horrors!

Geez, do you think she was insane??

Memorial Day weekend is just sorta sneaking up on me. I've go no outta town plans or anything, and it appears that most other people do. It's making me a little sad. This is when it's not so fun to be an orphan. I know I'm perfectly capable of entertaining myself, that's not it. The part that's hardest for me is that it feels like everyone else has a place where they 'belong' - and I don't. Well, I guess I 'belong' here.. but my world, through deaths and other losses, is just a lot smaller than others. Anyway. I can't think about it too much right now, because it's freaking me out just a little bit. I'll be fine. Because I always am.

Ciao.

evening update at 7:24 pm

I'm fine, really. Every once in a while I start to take myself - and life - just a leeetle too seriously! Reminder to self: your life is pretty damn good. you're healthy - remember? :-)

And now, I'm gonna do some laundry. Don't you wish you were me?? Buona Sera.

Have you seen myway.com? It's like yahoo, but no pop-ups, and no registering (Dame and Megan - that's for you!). Anyway... they have the most complete story on that poor circus performer who fell on Saturday.

My days as a hair model are over. I got there at 12:30... and at 1:15, she wasn't even half done with the first client. I left, because I was tired of sitting around and was getting crabbier by the second. That dreary, drizzly weather just got the better of me this weekend. Ugh!

After the non-haircut, I got rid of 4 more bags o'crap - er - unwanted items - at the Goodwill.. that much less stuff to move. Then I had to go to the Mall to buy The Sims. I simply had to have it. All's right in the world now. (yeah, geek. I know.). It had been a while since I played. I'd forgotten all my cheats. See what a cold rainy weekend does to me?

Have an adequate day. Ciao.

Again with the clouds/mist/rain/fog/bleah weather. If we ever get sun and heat again, I swear I will never ever complain about it. Even if it gets to be 110 degrees. Really.

I ran errands yesterday, then did some more cleaning/clearing out of clutter. Note to self/PSA to others: clean the top of your refrigerator off once a year. Because if you wait two or three years, there's just stuff up that that you wouldn't even believe! ::shudder::

I also attempted to make my hair the same color again.. I had a couple different shades going in there (one of which wasn't a color found in nature). Now it's all almost the same color that God made me with, so when it grows out it won't be as noticable. And speaking of hair-stuff, I'm a hair model again today at 12:30. She's supposed to only be trimming it up and fixing the bangs.. I'll let ya know what happens.

Ciao.

The third moving company comes SLAMMING home with the low bid! Who do you think will be getting all my relocation business at work next year? This is one very, very smart salesman. I'm feeling much better about moving and life in general right now.)

Ah, yes.. remember the days of pulling up to the gas pump and putting in just $10 worth? I was the queen of doing that. I'd literally buy enough gas for JUST each errand. And thank GOD I got rid of that Blazer.

Whoops. Yeah. I was outta my mind.

Another cool, misty, dreary day. ENOUGH already - let's make-a wit' da sun. (heh heh... I was channeling the spirit of Dad there for a minute!).
Maddy-Cat is terribly unhappy with me because there is no milk in the house right now (her Saturday morning treat) - so I need to run out to pick some up. Oh, and some kitty litter. And eggs. Oh, hell - I gotta make a grocery list. I might have to make just one stop at the bookstore, too. We were there last night and I didn't buy one thing. So to reward myself, I'm gonna go back and buy it. That's how it's supposed to work, right?!

Love ya, Bellas. Ciao.

Crabbiness, or not so much.

Idiots.
Nice home life they've got going there.
Ditto here.

All these stories echo the random little crabby thoughts I was having yesterday afternoon on the drive home. Here are a few of them:

Please, wait until the light TURNS RED for you so you can ride your bike in front of my car, mr. crazy-man.
I hope my microwave NEVER gets fixed, because this is so much more convenient.
Wouldn't it be great if the moving company charged me MORE than $600?

On and on and on. Then I saw a young kid walking her dog.. except she wasn't walking as much as riding along in her motorized wheelchair, and the dog was alongside her because she was blind. And then I realized that there's not one thing wrong with my life. Not one. Helps to put it all in perspective.

So there's my deep philosophical life-lesson for the day for y'all. You're beautiful, Bellas. Ciao.

I watched the very end of the Timberwolves game. Whew - it went down to the very last shot! I don't understand one thing about basketball... but this is quite the big deal.

This lady is never gonna go away.

And what is WRONG with this lady??

This'll make you cry and break your heart. I'll take her.

The microwave just stopped working last night. I put my frozen food in it, hit the timer, hit start, it ran for about two seconds and then just quit. I looked around for a minute, convinced that all my electricity had gone off.. nope, computer, TV, lights still working. Went over and checked the circuit breaker box - nothing tripped. Guess it's just dead. Now, even though microwaves aren't that expensive (I still remember the first one that I bought - it was tiny, and it cost $300...) I'm still glad that 'the man' will fix it, or get me a new one. That's the only good thing about renting... letting 'the man' take care of all that stuff! I just have to remember to call them this morning.

I'm off for an airport run - Mare is off to San Fran. I'm jealous! Have fun! Ciao.

Yeah... she abandonded her eggs. She never came back last night. I wonder why they do that? I'll leave them out there for another day or so.. then I'll have to get rid of them, I suppose. I'm sadder about this than I thought I would be! But I'll have my balcony back for the summer.

RIP Tony Randall.

It'll be Snoopy and Woodstock around town this summer.

I still don't really believe that Martha Stewart will get any jail time.

Mare! A new Wal-Mart for us to check out. (or not-so-much).

Behave yourselves, and have a good day. Ciao, Bellas.

NBC's new fall schedule is out. Note to self - throw TV out window when moving.

The Restaurant, on the other hand, was one of the shows that I really LIKED. Maybe throw TV out the window now...

And that is all thus far. Talk to you later. Ciao.

evening update 8:21 PM

Lucy Pigeon has been gone for a couple of hours now. So of course, I'm worried that she has now abandonded the eggs. She came back for a couple of seconds, but took off again. Okay.. I'm crossing over into a weird area here, when I'm worrying about pigeons.

In other news, look at my gorgeous geranium.

geranium

evening update

The second egg has arrived:

twoeggs

The farmer's market trip was good. I wasn't going to buy anything (HA!) but broke down when I saw the gorgeous red geraniums.I'm going to try them inside, in my very sunny and bright west window. Dame, (expert horticulturalist that you are) will they grow there?

Ran a quick Target errand, again (three times in one weekend.. I have to plan a little better than that). Then I kept waiting for it to rain, so I didn't do much in the afternoon. I was really restless. I think it's due to the fact that I'm used to having so much going on (from working/moves,etc.) that I've forgotten how to just go slowly. I'm gonna have to learn again how to just relax.

Mama pigeon is sleeping this morning.. it looks like she didn't get too wet from the rain last night. I haven't seen a second egg yet. Maybe they'll only have one.

Here are some pictures from the market:

flowers1

flowers2

Have an excellent day. Ciao.

Ricky, the daddy pigeon, is WAY more skittish than mommy Lucy. Last night Lucy let me stand right next to the open window and take pictures of her. Ricky won't even let me pull the blinds up - he jumps away every time. So this is the best picture I can get of him right now:

pigericky

CuzGirl and I are taking MomM to the Farmer's Market this morning. Now it's really Spring! Have a great day, all. Ciao.

evening update part deux

This is why she decided to stay:

pige5

Yep - that's an EGG in there with her. There's gonna be a blessed-pigeon event on my balcony in about 18 days. How do I know this? Because since I'm gonna be a pigeon-grandma I decided I should be knowledgable about all this stuff. I can't possibly throw her and her egg out of here now.. That would be heartless! So I'm going to name the happy couple Lucy and Ricky and wait for little Ricky (and possibly little Ethel, since I guess they hatch 'em two at a time... although I haven't seen the second egg yet) to hatch.

This information was taken from interbug.com pigeon information page (who even knew that such a page existed?)

2.1: When does the hen lay her eggs?
The hen lays the first egg of a two-egg clutch about 10 days after mating. The second egg follows a day or so after the first. The couple usually do not start sitting on the eggs until the second egg comes. This ensures both eggs hatch around the same time.

¬Ý 2.2: Which parent sits on the eggs?
Both the cock and the hen take turns sitting on the eggs. The hen usually sits in the morning and overnight. The cock usually sits during the afternoon.

¬Ý 2.3: How long are pigeon eggs incubated?
Both eggs usually start to hatch about 18 days after the second egg was laid. It can sometimes take a chick an entire day to break free from his shell.

¬Ý 2.4: What do baby pigeons eat?
For the first few days of life, baby pigeons, also called "squabs," are fed "pigeon milk" by both parents. Pigeon milk is a cheese-like substance created inside the throats of both parents and put into the mouths of the baby pigeons.
After a few days of the pigeon milk diet, the young are fed regurgitated grains and seeds. The parents will pump the baby pigeons so full of seeds that their crops will look and feel like overly stuffed bean bags.
After about 20 days or so, the young pigeons will begin to peck at grains and seeds and begin eating like adult pigeons. They will, however, continue to beg their parents to feed them when given the opportunity.

¬Ý 2.5: How fast do baby pigeons grow?
Pigeons grow at a remarkable rate. Anecdotally, they appear to double in size every other day of their first week of life. A young pigeon is fully feathered and ready to leave the nest at about 30 days.

So there you have it. I have visitors that will be staying on the balcony for a month. It'll be good practice for when I don't have a balcony at all. And at least they're not bats... (remember the bat from last Memorial Day weekend?? ::ewww:: that was horrid!).
It's like having my own private nature movie in the middle of downtown. I'll keep ya posted.

evening update

The pigeon has decided that she's taking up residence here, even if she doesn't have a nest:

pige4

Now this is a new thing for me... a Saturday morning when I don't have to be anyplace! I had to get up at 5:00 to feed the kitties (Issy-cat's stomach doesn't have weekends off), but I went right back to sleep for another 3 hours. Bliss!

Please, someone has to tell me again how letting 2 men or or 2 women get married could have "negative effects on families"? I really, truly don't understand that. Isn't love always love?

We were talking the other day about jobs and such.. and what if everyone really became what they said they were going to become "when I grew up" as kids. Every man would be an astronaunt, and every woman would be a ballerina and a veterinarian (at the same time!). Some guys actually followed through with their dreams!

Wouldn't it be amazing if he really did come back? I'm convinced that he won't - yet intrigued that he might...

Shouldn't there be some sort of court or government agency that prevents parents from naming their children after fruit?

I woke up to all kinds of pigeon noises on the balcony (reason #467 to move... the huge influx of those rats with wings :shudder: so gross). Turns out there were two of them trying to make their nest in the corner behind the flower pots. I threw it over the side because, well, YUCK - pigeons. Now they're pretty pissed off at me.

pige1

pige2

pige3

They're gonna just hang out there all day and look at me. It's driving Maddy-cat crazy. She's been on house patrol all morning - running back and forth from the window to the door. You should probably call to check on us later. They might trying bustin' in next....

Have an excellent day. Ciao, bellas.

This is a vote that America got right. How can you not love Rupert??

Nice going there, Jimmy. Take a few hundred more advil, why don't ya. (actually, I'm not one to talk. If 2 advil are good, then 3 must be better, right?!?)

Oh, for the love of God... when I read stuff like this, about a woman who left her baby in a dumpster - this, about 3 kids left home alone as their townhouse burned down (nice parents - leave the kids home to go shopping, and oh - the electricity's been shut off, but we'll leave a burning candle on top of the tv like a nice little night light for you...grrr. getting madder now..) - this, a teen mom who strangled her baby - there are no words. None.

This week has flown by. Work is starting to calm down a bit, and I can actually see how this long, long project WILL end soon. I got some nice recognition (think:cash) from the big dogs yesterday, which almost made all the hoo-ha worthwhile. :) I just want to be able to sit at my desk for more than 10 minutes uninterrupted and get something done. That's not too much to ask, is it?

Have an excellent day, Bellas. Ciao.

In a way, this is kind of funny. America just keeps voting off the judges' favorites. If they don't like it, perhaps they should just re-think the way the show works and eliminate the voting. Of course, then it wouldn't be AMERICAN Idol anymore.. then it would just be The Judges' Favorite - and We Know What You Like Best Show.

Well, it's the United States' lucky day, isn't it?

Whoo Hoo - my boyfriend Kiefer is available again. I just have to figure out how to meet him now....

Is anyone else just a little freaked out about this?

Here's a convenient way to get out of criminal allegations - blame your cousin! Heh heh... I like this idea..

Uh, yeah. As IF!

I actually watched part of the Wolves game last night. Now that they're this far into the playoffs, it's probably time to get on the bandwagon... Or not. I don't understand basketball at all. It's a lot of running back and forth, I know that.

Okay - that's all the news. Busy day today. You have a good one. Ciao.

I think I'm gonna buy me one of those Ph.D degrees. It seems a lot easier to just do it that way than to waste your time with all that schooling!

It's the early kick-off to summer - the AIDS walk is this weekend.

Hello-Kitty car goes in for the rest of his service today.. Thank you for the rides (and you know who you are!). Ciao, Bellas.

Once again, thank goodness for Hello-Kitty Saturn now that gas is $2 a gallon.

More on the storm that wrecked parts of my neighborhood here. My favorite tree in the park toppled over.

tree

This article about meetings should be required reading at work. Some people/departments are just meeting-crazed. I think they like having meetings just for the sake of having them. Or because it makes them feel like real grown-ups with real jobs. Whatever! Let me come in, do what I need to do, and then go home and resume real life. Maybe they don't have enough to do in their jobs. I know that I have more than enough to fill 8 hours a day (which is why I most often work 10).

I got my first quote from movers last night - ridiculously expensive. I'm in a one bedroom apartment, moving a block away, elevators at BOTH ends for crissake! That's what I get for going with a big national company (albeit one that I use at work.. might have to re-think that contract a bit). Time to contact a few others. I refuse to make my friends and family do this. We're all too old.

Have a most excellent day, kids. Ciao.

Well, wow. I turned on the TV this morning, and the first story was about all the damage from the storm - in MY neighborhood!! I love a good storm - I'm the first one to be looking out the window when the sirens start. But I confess, I was a little scared at this one. I actually took the kitties and went into the bathroom when the wind started up. In a tall building like this, we don't go to the basement during a storm (you don't want the whole thing pancaking down on you) - we go to the interior rooms and stairwells. I actually saw the wind whip up, and all kinds of chairs, plants and various stuff from people's balconies flew by the window. A transformer up the street blew up, and a bunch of windows blew out of the office building up the street. It even knocked barges loose. Scary.

As the storm wound down last night, I watched the Survivor finale. It took me a second to figure out who hated who, because I haven't watched this show all season. The engagement thing was a little cheesy, but on the surface, anyway, it looked like they were happy and in love. Maybe they were just in love with the idea that they were gonna split a million bucks no matter what...

Hmmm - it looks like a billboard falling onto power lines might have caused all the sparking, not a transformer. I'm glad I didn't know it was this bad when it was actually happening.

Welcome to a new week.. it's gonna be a busy one. Ciao, bellas.

weekend update

Hello-Kitty Saturn is almost all serviced up. He has to go back in on Wednesday to fix a leaky quill bearing (under warranty), but then we're good for another 30K. And did I mention how cool it was to not be working on a Saturday? This is how real people live. I'd almost forgotten!

I'm waiting for Good Ol' CuzBoy to pick me up - we're going for a little coffee and farmer's market. This afternoon is for cleaning up the balcony. I don't think I'm going to put up a whole container garden this year.. I'll have to start packing in August and I won't have a place for all the plants at my new house. Maybe just a few herb plants.

That's it. Have a faboo day. Ciao.

evening update

BIG storms rolled through here tonight... the sky went from grey

Yay - Ross and Rachel together again at last. The Friends finale was enjoyable. I somehow think, though, that Ross will do something to blow it again. They'll get married, buy a house next to Chandler and Monica, get divorced 5 years later, Rachel will get the house. They'll never hear from Phoebe and Mike again (Phoebe will be secretly relieved to get away from them). Joey will fail miserably in Hollywood and end up doing bad adult films. Chandler and Monica's kids will rebel against them, steal money to buy drugs and both eventually go into treatment. Chandler will turn into Ozzy Osbourne. It's a happy ending for all.

I am truly a child of the TV era - I remember every single one of these finales.

Whoops! This made me laugh! Yeah - I wouldn't have voted for him either.

Is it possible that there could finally be a break in the Jacob Wetterling abduction? Or is this just sweeps-month hype?

End of the week, and don't have to work this weekend. But some dork made an appointment to get the car serviced at 10:00 tomorrow morning. Oh, that's right - that dork is me. Still - getting up at 9:00 is way better than getting up at 4:30. Have a beautiful day. Ciao.

George wasn't supposed to go away until NEXT week.

I can't believe it's the end of Friends. So help me, if it ends with a Ross and Rachel cliffhanger... well... I don't know what I'll do, exactly, but I'll be disappointed.

I had kinda forgotten about Martha Stewart there for a while.

There are no words to describe my happiness at this turn of events! Mare, I'm making you come to this movie with me!

I'd also forgotten about the Hatch sisters.

This makes me feel old. I remember a time before Friends was on. In fact, I remember all kinds of time before Friends was on.

Ciao.

This isn't a surprise.

Yeah - this isn't funny at all. Let's give the coaches a "hey, you're fired, asshole" award.

Imagine settling into your seat, ready to have a nice healthy salad instead of that regular horrid airplane food, and then eeeeeek!

Not a lot to say this morning... I let stuff at work get to me yesterday, and I ended up shutting my door and crying for a minute. Then I had to remind myself that work isn't my real life, it's just what I do to pay the bills. Helps keep things in perspective. I'll do a better job of remembering that today. You have an excellent day as well. Ciao.

Afternoon Update

You've gotta take a look at this incredible photo. He should turn pro.

moonlake2

Just buy an Apple computer, then you won't have these problems!

I spent the day getting other people settled in and unpacking my office. It's gonna take a little while.
office

Yeah.. that wall is purple (eggplant, really). The painters on this job were really cool, and I told them that the one thing I really wanted was a purple wall in my office. So I've got my purple wall, my Big Sur picture tacked up where I can see it (it's my happy place!), and about half of my contact cards up on the board. A couple more days and it'll be done.

Ciao!

Forgive me if I'm wrong... but maybe shouldn't their be a rule about this?

I'd forgotten that the Drew Carey show was even still on.

Well, DUH.

This is how I know I'm not quite awake yet. I thought that this story was about a pizza place, not a plaza.

And with all that said, welcome to another week. At least this one will only have 5 work days in it, instead of the six that I've been used to. And maybe I'll even take an afternoon off, just because I want to and because I can.
I just glanced out the window, and it's getting light out by 5:30 AM now (for those of you who are still sleeping. Get UP already!). I can't tell you what a difference that makes to those of us extra-early birds.
Other goals I have for the week (besides taking an afternoon off) include cleaning and clearing off the balcony and talking to the leasing agent at my soon-to-be new house to find out if they know which space I'll be getting yet. YeeHaw! You have an excellent day. Ciao.

Weekend Life Update and Random Thoughts:

After all the hours and hours I've worked getting all 350 of those people moved, yesterday was rather anti-climactic. Done in 3 hours. I'll miss seeing my mover-guys every weekend. They're the greatest, and it would be great to just work with them.. but my back just wouldn't allow for that right now.
Ah, yes, the back. I'm gonna have to just throw up my hands in defeat and admit that I might have really done something to it. Tomorrow I'll fill out the necessary paperwork that says I injured myself and then I'll make an appointment. People who know me know that I don't cry wolf when it comes to physical stuff. I have an incredibly high pain tolerance, and I'll work through everything - I'd have to be pretty much bleeding outta my eyes before I'll call in SICK, because I don't wanna be a wussy-girl. But this is the truth. I genuinely hurt, I can't stand or sit without pain. Shit.

Last night, we went to Fat Lorenzo's for well-deserved pizza... sausage and garlic. AND the best garlic cheese bread ever in the history of the world. If I had to pick just one food to eat for the rest of my life, Lorenzo's garlic cheese bread would be it. Of course I'd be fat and smell bad... but it's a small price to pay.

When I was doing my usual trip through the blogs yesterday afternoon, I stumbled across one written by a former co-worker. I know for certain that it was, because real names were used. That's pretty brave. I have lotsa rules about names - I never use real names (just ask Mac - except now he wants to be referred to as 'Hercules'. Eh - Nope. Sorry. I just can't do that. You'll always be Mac). I'd never refer to the name of my company. And I'd certainly never write anything the least bit derogatory about my company or my co-workers. The rule about that is to never write anything about work that you wouldn't say AT work.. Just because you never know who's out there reading this.

Today's gotta be ALL about cleaning the place up - scrub the floors, vacuum, dust, straighten, tidy, etc. etc. etc.. all made more interesting by the fact that it FREAKIN' HURTS TO MOVE (there. done ranting.) I'll live.

Drop me a line - tell me what you're up to today. Ciao.

afternoon update

Two things:
1. How is it possible to have this much cat hair everywhere? I could literally dust off my keyboard four thousand times a day. :sigh: the joys of having black cats.
2. Speaking of black cats - behold the wonder that is IssyMan:

And also the wonder that is MaddyGirl:

Hmmm. What does a slipped (or pinched or twisted or compressed or whatever you want to call it) disk feel like? I think this back thing is just some pulled muscles, but now it just all hurts so I can't tell. The one thing I do know is that it feels better when I'm either bent over (not standing up straight), or lying flat on the floor. Sigh. I don't need one other reason to go to the doc right now. I'm just going to take it easy (HA!) this weekend.

Some quick news stuff before I have to go in for (THE VERY LAST) move.
Milk prices are jumping up 50 cents a gallon. Once you read the story, you realize that most of it is going to the farmers.. so it's a little easier to take the increase.

Oh yeah - she's gonna get locked up forever.

Are kids using bomb threats as a way to get out of class? The administrators have to evacuate with every threat, I guess. What if the one time they didn't was the one time they should? Even though I wouldn't re-live that time for ANYTHING, I'm glad I went to school when I did. We didn't have to face half the stuff that kids today do.

Lileks on cell phones in the StarTribune today. Funny!

The best Friends moments and characters. Also part of the trivia game scene - they called Monica "Big Fat Goalie".

Last of the moves today... no more getting up at 4:30 on Saturdays! whoo hoo! Have an excellent day. Ciao.
