I was up a little late - um - reading about who was winning the Big Brother competition. I'm ashamed of myself, and will never do that again. I hate that show, and yet I still watch. What's wrong with me?? I blame Dame!. (heh heh)
Just having the words "Schwarzenegger" and "licked" in such close proximity is making me a little nauseous.
Every day, I find one more reason why I should just give away my television. And yet I don't. Why? I blame Dame!
I'm singin' I'm singin' I'm singin' whoops! I'm fallin' down the stairs.... (that actually happened to me once, in high school, but it was after I finished singing. I walked off stages and promptly fell down the backstage stairs, guitar and all. It was quite the finish to an otherwise prize-winning performance. Literally. I won the talent show, but maybe I just got the pity vote~!)
Oh yeah... the Osbournes are one f*ed up family.
I'm buying this shirt for all the men I know for Christmas. Why? I blame Dame!
I used to take the Metro when PaperBoy lived in DC, and I always marvelled at how clean it was. Know I now why. You're arrested if you bring food down there!
I'm lunching with the Realtor today - I'm not looking at houses yet, because it's a little too soon (I don't want to break my lease and pay for that), but she's cool and we both agree that we need bonding time! She'll be a great friend as well as a great realtor, and that's important to me. It's been that way with all the important advisory people in my life (lawyer/accountant/doctor) - I have to feel like there's a personal connection with them as well as a professional one. Not that we have to be best pals.. but I need to know them a little bit as a person. Anyway - enough of that rambling. Why am I rambling? I blame Dame!
Ciao.
I just can't get moving today. Thank God it's Thursday... and what am I gonna do when I actually have to work FIVE days in a row?
What kind of nut job tampers with baby food?
This is interesting. MRI, mammograms, ultra-sound.. there are lots of ways out there to screen for breast cancer. I say take advantage of ALL of 'em.
Note to self: if I ever have an allergic reaction to a bee sting, do so in front of Dustin Hoffman's house.
More on Rocco's Restaurant. I agree - why should someone have to run a business that is losing money? and if Rocco really wants to continue, then he should pony up some money of his own.
The thing that freaked me out most about this article was that you can have your ashes made into a diamond. "I like your ring." "Oh, thanks, it's Grandma." Nuh uh. That's a little too weird for me.
I was lazy last night. I didn't do one productive thing. Well, I started the front of my sweater and wrote a cover letter for the Good Ol' CuzBoy, so I guess I did do a couple of things.. but it felt good to be a little lazy. Oh, and I watched Big Brother. It's official. I hate that show, and if one of those two particularly obnoxious horsey-boys doesn't get voted off next week I might have to just stop watching. Let's not do this next year, okay Dame!?
Ciao, Bellas. Be good.
Well, yes, it's morning again. Hey! It's not light anymore when I first wake up! Summer flies by, doesn't it?
The French Doctors without Borders group is pulling out of Afghanistan. I understand why.. but it's still a shame.
On the other hand this is not such a shame. Ryan Seacrest's five minutes of fame is just about up.
Michael Jackson just needs to be locked up for a long time. How about having him serve his sentence AND Martha Stewart's, too?! Problem solved all around!
I don't watch many re-runs in the summer, either. Joan of Arcadia and ER are both first-time only shows for me.
Stitch-n-B*tch, the knitting group, is so fun. We all agreed.. it's an oasis in the week. And yes, knitting IS a communal activity! The back of my sweater is done, see?

Off to work... and today it's all about Scoperta Della Bellezza (yeah.. look it up!) Have a great day. Ciao, Bellas.
Yes, yes, I know... I promised pictures from the swap meet. Well, I promise, and I deliver. Pictures are right here.
It's just not looking good for the missing Utah jogger. How scary - how do you NOT know that your husband is a wacko?
You never need to worry: Cheleblog is always worm-free.
Mary Kate is out of treatment. Now, go have a samich.
You go, Mom! That bully probably needed a good slap in the mouth.
How about this? Let's push this idiot off a cliff. And then bring him back up, dust him off, and push him off again.
This is the stuff they should have shown on "The Restaurant". This part would have been exciting.
One wonders that if, say, I was convicted of a crime - if I would have the option of "thinking about" serving my sentence.
I'm goin' knitting again tonight. The back of the sweater is very nearly done! And that's about all I've got for this morning. Have a beautiful day. Ciao.
The swap meet was - well - swappy, I guess. CuzGirl says it's rust as far as the eye can see, and she's right. I didn't find any treasures or anything. I think it's still left over from thinking that I was gonna move so I am in the mind set of not bringing any more junk into the house! yeah...it's good to keep the clutter down to a low roar.
The DNC is this week. Both conventions are making me nervous.. not just because of who will/won't get the nomination and win the elections, but just because of the possibility of terror attacks. And the fact that Al-Jazeera is covering it isn't helping. Sad that we have to think that way now.
This candidate for the state supreme court makes me nervous as well. Maybe Mare is right! Let's just go live in a trailer in the south and forget about all this political stuf... (oh, Mare, I just couldn't do it, though..)
Lord help me! Too many cat puns going on here!
Yeah, yeah, the guy on Jeopardy is really smart. I'm STILL not gonna watch the show. Well, maybe the day he loses, just so I can feel a little bit superior. hee hee!
Now this is making me really sad. The mind-picture of the StarWars geeks jumping up and down and hugging each other and crying over the announcement of the TITLE of the movie... well... it makes me feel a little less geeky about my own life.
Paying for fast food with plastic. Hmm.. the overall average weight of Americans just jumped about 10% I bet! That's the only thing that keeps me OUT of McDonald's sometimes! "Oh, I don't have cash, think I'll just skip it.." Uh-Oh.
My dear little Maddy-Cat just left me a present - er, a hairball - hacked up on the rug. Time to go get the spot cleaner. Have a most excellent day! I'll post some swap pictures when I get home from work... Ciao!
I'm leavin' for daRange in just a few minutes. Have an excellent day, all.

Ciao.
Lotsa stuff goin' on in cheleville... nothing that I can talk about publicly just yet (but it's all good). Just keep your fingers crossed is all I'm sayin'. And if you want to know what you're keeping them crossed for, e-mail me!
A quick scoot through the headlines, now:
Well, my God - I should hope so.
Are they worrying about stupid athletes? (I'm just kidding, you know. I'M not a dope!)
I care so little about this that it actually hurts.
Hee hee! I love it. I can't stand her, but the idea of it is pretty funny.
Arnold Schwarzenegger is California's very own Jesse Ventura. Did they learn nothing from us?? But I must admit - I did find the girlie men line funny.
And I care so little about this that I'm not even going to write about it. Except I just did.
Here's radical new medical procedure.. I wouldn't be signing up anytime soon.
On yet another vacation Friday I'll be lunching with my furniture-friend, doing a little home cleaning, and then packing up. CuzGirl, Good Ol' CuzBoy and I are heading up north to Da Range tomorrow for the swap meet and visiting. It's a different world up there, and I'm sure I'll have to take a number of pictures to document the event. :) See you on Sunday. Ciao, Bellas.
Oh. My. God. Wireless interent RULES. As does my new freakin' laptop!! I'm blogging from my rockin' chair! And now my blogging from my couch! and now from my kitchen! from my bedroom! from the bathro - well - let's not get too carried away, eh? There are still a couple of bugs to work out... but I'm more than halfway there. HUGE props to Mac.. he's the smartest man I know. Oh yeah, and so charming, too!
No links today... I gotta go play with some settings. Have an excellent day, all. Ciao.
Wow... 75 and muggy at 5:00 AM. But I'm gonna remember this in January when it's 25 below.
It was an honest mistake... he stuffed documents in his pants?? I don't often stuff paper in my pants by accident - do you?
This is all perfectly fine... but my friends G. and Roxy CAN'T get married, because gay marriage will bring down society. Someone needs to explain that to me.
I have no words.
Time for some anger management classes.
And maybe some more anger management classes (and some time in spin-dry).
Knitting group was fun! I'm almost done with the back of my sweater. And no, Dame!, I didn't watch Big Brother yet (and I haven't read about what went on), but I'll call you after I do. It just isn't as fun to watch anymore. Maybe we're outgrowing all the reality stuff, eh?
I'll talk to youse guys later. Ciao.
Up early doing laundry, waiting for the coffee to steep in the french press....
Ahhhh. There's nothing better than coffee. Nothing. It's how I get away with 4-1/2 or 5 hours of sleep every night. So on to the news stuff:
Do we really believe that he didn't desert his unit?
What would the name of this merged company be? Cooson? Molsoors? I'm not a fan of either brew...
Hello, Mrs. drunk lounge singer.
Um, excuse me?
The news is full of stories about people who live near the airport complaining about the noise and asking for insulation. Here's my question - when you bought your home, didn't you notice that big airport in your neighborhood? Or how about the planes overhead every 5 minutes? I can ask these questions, because we lived on the flight path when I was growing up. The planes went overhead. You stopped talking for a second. Then life went on. We got central air when I was about 10 years old.. I don't think we ever got the extra insulation.
And so it begins.
All that said, it's 5:39 and I've had two cups of coffee (and am now typing about 852 wpm) the laundry is in the dryer and I'm gonna go outside and deadhead the roses and the geraniums. By the time I actually get to work I'm gonna need a nap. Knitting group tonight (I hope some other people actually show up), and all that other stuff I do in a day. Have a good one. Ciao, Bellas.
I was GONNA get up at 4:30 and do some laundry (because they're remodeling the laundry room, and about half the machines are gone.. so I knew I'd a couple of them if I went in that early) - but when the alarm went off, I ignored it for half an hour. I'll do laundry tomorrow. It's a busy week, and this weekend is the annual swap meet/junk show/car show up north with the rellies. That's the half-way mark of summer for me. That, and I heard a cicada when I was out running errands on Saturday.
So I'd better have at it. Oh, did I mention the iBook? (see below!). Have a good day. Ciao.
One word, boys and girls (well, one picture):

(yeah, the 12" one. it's mine. all mine!) More tomorrow. Ciao!
I love IKEA! I bought one of these to put out on the balcony, and some of these for Mac, and a set of these and a set of these. Today I'm going back to buy one of these for my office... and to just walk through again, because I KNOW I missed some stuff.
Today has to be more mundane shopping, too... Target, groceries, etc., and just general enjoyment of a summer day. Gotta love it. Ciao, Bellas.
I'll never get tired of saying this: Vacation Friday! I'm going to IKEA to have a lookaround, then to have my shaggy hair cut.
She'll get to spend maybe half her sentence confined to her home. Have you ever SEEN pictures of her home?? It's a palace. If I'm ever convicted of a crime, may I spend half my sentence confined to her home??? Just goes to show - if you have enough money, you can do anything, anytime with no consequences.
Darn. I thought they'd raise the American Idol age limit to include me, too!
Don't look at me - I didn't do it.
That's it. I'm never going to work again. This story is horrifying. Read all the links here. Yikes!
Idiots.
Off to start the day. I'll tell ya all about my adventures later. Ciao!
Ugh. HUGE headache this morning. and seeing this picture didn't help at all.
And really, this picture was even scarier.
Oh, c'mon. He was a film legend. Now that he's dead, don't publish stories with headlines like this.
I try to like Bjork.. I really do. But sometimes I think she's trying on purpose to be over the top
My little garden is looking quite festive this summer. Go take a look at it and tell me what you think. Gotta run, have a great day. Ciao.
The up-north swap meet is coming up next week. Who knows? I might pick up some Beatles treasures.
Here he is, ladies and gentlemen, the smartest man in the world.
It would just be easier if they all wore uniforms. Our biggest decision was what color blouse to wear under the black jumpers.
Hello, Mr. Crazy Man.
Oh, come on: haven't we all had days like this? Or not-so-much?
Well, this is the coolest story I've read in a while.
I'll admit that our company often pushes business casual to the limit... but a lot of the higher-ups are leading the way for us. As long as I'm looking presentable, and doing my job, though, why don't y'all worry about other stuff?
I showed up to what was supposed to be knitting group last night - only to find no one there. I even drove over to the alternate location from last week, thinking that maybe it got moved and no one told me - no one there, either. I was a little disappointed.. but when it gave me the chance to talk to the mortgage financing folks. Yeah.. I'm gonna start thinking about buying a house, and the first thing to do is to get all the money stuff in order.
Money scares me sometimes - not that I go running screaming into the night when I see a $5 bill - but as I was growing up I was literally never taught about money. Not how to budget, how to balance a checkbook, how to plan to save for the future. Maybe because dad was a banker and worked with it all day - he just couldn't bear to think about it when he got home. Anyway, when you come upon those lessons later on in life (read: your late twenties/early thirties) they're MUCH harder to learn. It's taken a lot of time, and a lot of Suze Orman books, to get past fears and misconceptions. So like most things in my adult life, I'm ten years late at arriving! Hey.. it keeps my young, or something. I've found some great women to help me navigate through this first part of the process, though. We talked for a long time, and she really explained everything very well.
As those who know me well (hey Dame! hey Mare!) know - I can't just rush into things. I do better when there's a process, when there are a lot of steps involved. The taskier, the better! This will work just fine...
So- that's the deal today. Oh, and JK... the farmers' market WAS the greatest, even if you did see my house in all its messy glory! We'll do it again soon.

Ciao, Bellas.
I think I'm back on schedule again... the last long weekend threw me a bit.
Doesn't this story give you hope of wining the lottery someday? I plan on it.
Holy nightmare!
Awww, RIP, Weezie.
This is a cool idea.. I'll be reading it.
Ewwwwww! ::holds nose::
Okay, so who's gonna buy me one of these?
Knitting group tonight - whoo hoo! I'm making a sweater. Of course, it's only 3" long right now, so it's easy to hold on hot summer days. I figure by the time it gets REALLY chilly I'll be putting the sleeves together. Have a great day. Ciao.
chele's top 25 songs of all time - or today, anyway
Quite the eclectic (read: weird) set of songs/artists. I like many of these because they remind me of a time/place/person that was important to me. And now I've got a cool new playlist on iTunes. PS - Brooks Blog is keeping track of ALL the lists. A good way to learn more about new music from others. Anyway - Here we go:
25. Things Just Getting Good - Promise Ring: When I first heard this, I told Mac I thought it was dirge-like. So then he let me listen to all his Promise Ring stuff, and I was hooked.
24. Anchorage - Michelle Shocked: My friend Maureen gave me this cassette years ago. I played it until the tape disintegrated.
23. The Hard Way - Mary Chapin Carpenter: "Everything we got - we got the hard way" - Amen, sister. My life story captured in a song.
22. Falling in Love - Lisa Loeb: Hey - a song about falling in love with (and then getting dumped by) a cowboy? I'm all over that...
21. Kirsty MacColl - My Affair: I love it that she was an English girl who loved the Cuban sound. I discovered her shortly after her untimely death. I've got all her albums, and I'm sad that there can't be any more.
20. In This Life - Israel Kamakawiwo'ole: ANOTHER artist I only discovered after he died. My timing sucks.
19. Infamous Angel - Iris Dement: I bought this album right after "Northern Exposure" went off the air - she sang the song that was playing over the last few minutes of the last episode. It's really twangy country which I normally don't like, but it works with her.
18. I Kissed a Girl - Jill Sobule: She's happy and playful! This song just makes me laugh...
17. Favorite - Liz Phair: Dame! It's the "You're my underwear" song!! Plus - Liz Phair ::growl:: I'd turn just a little gay for her.
16. The Tide is High - Blondie : It was a toss-up - Tide is High or Maria. But Tide is High is one of my favorite summer songs. Reminds me of walking down a beach.
15. A Matter of Trust - Billy Joel: I saw him once at MSP airport. He looked tired, with bags under his eyes. Oh wait - he ALWAYS looks like that!
14. Pavement Cracks - Annie Lennox: This was one of the free downloads on iTunes. I would have paid for it. It's my favorite driving song right now.
13. Daddy's Little Girl - Al Martino: My dad used to sing this to us - we were Daddy's little girls.. (okay. now I'm tearing up a little bit... so on to the next one)
12. Kodachrome - Paul Simon: I got this album for my 13th birthday. Then the naughty next door neighbor kid (or maybe it was my sister) put playdough on it when they were playing pizza parlor. I've never fully recovered....
11. It's Too Late - Carole King: when I was about 12 or so, I got the 45 - It's Too Late/I Feel the Earth Move - and listened to it for 8 hours straight (on the close-n-play record player!). Surprisingly, I still like both of these songs.
10. Back in the High Life Again - Steve Winwood: We listened to this song while we were driving around in the limo after my sister's wedding. One of the (few) happy memories I have of being around my family.
9. Shining Star - The Manhattans: Mock me if you must. I LOVE this song.. and now it's on that TV commercial all the time, so I can't POSSIBLY be the only one who likes it!
8. Naked Hour - Baby Fox: I mostly like this song because when I crank it ALL THE WAY up on my car stereo my entire car shakes. Oh. I can't do that anymore because the St. Paul cops pulled me over because it was so loud. (true story. the cop walked up to my window fully prepared to yell at some kid - and when it was just me, the 40 year old white woman - I truly believe that his mind exploded a bit. He even did a double take. He just shook his head and walked away. He didn't even SAY anything!)
7. We May Never Pass This Way Again - Seals and Crofts: (dating myself here) - this was our 8th grade graduation song.
6. Graceland - Paul Simon: Just TRY to be in a bad mood when you listen to it.
5. Short Skirt/Long Jacket - Cake: Mostly I just listen to this one to annoy Mac.
4. These Dreams - Heart: This song reminds me of a very young boy I used to date - well, I was young too, but he was REALLY young! ahem. We won't discuss this any further.
3. Dust in the Wind - Kansas: This song reminds me of my high-school clique - 5 of us girls who were inseparable. It was popular during my senior year. I don't see them anymore, but I believe that when any of them hear this song, they think of us, too.
2. California - Joni Mitchell: One of the last times I was out in California, we listened to this song as we drove down to Big Sur. Whenever I hear it, I'm instantly there again.
1. Closer to Fine - Indigo Girls: The first time I heard this song, I thought "this will be my favorite song for life!" and it is. It's me.
There ya have it.
Good Morning! It's vacation Friday.
David Bowie is getting old just like the rest of us. Well, everyone but me, that is...
The missing marine story is rapidly turning into a Jerry Springer episode.
Um, Excuse me???? I read it twice, just to be sure that it really was the state's Secretary of Education who made the remark. And - in a side note - make sure you've got your facts straight before you organize a civil rights rally, Assemblyman Dymally. Don't be so quick to play the race card. Idiots. Both of 'em.
The Wild have signed Brian Rolston. Great news! Now, let's all hope that we HAVE a season this year. (looking doubtful, though).
Isn't she in jail yet??
This is a good thing.
All right - discuss. I'm gonna go finish my top 25 song list and get it posted. Ciao, Bellas.
Steve has his top 25 songs of all time listed. He's got pretty good taste, except I don't know about the Barenaked Ladies.. eh. I might have to do a list like this - if for nothing else than to go through my iTunes list and clean up a few more titles.
The Enron collapse back in the news - this guy needed to be indicted. Holy God - imagine your entire retirement savings being wiped out overnight. He should be made to support all those people through their golden years. Idiot.
Eeeeek!
I'll bet that they do know - but they're hiding him.
Um - what???
Oh my God. Just let me buy my flowers and veggies. I don't wanna be hassled at the farmers' market! Last week at the DT Minneapolis farmers' market on Nicollet Mall there were all kinds of God-people doggin' people. A girl chased me down and asked if she could pray with me. Leave me alone!
I don't know if this was a smart pick or not. NO goals in 38 games?
The countdown is on!
Have a good day, all! Ciao.
Whoo Hoo! The knitting group is SO fun! Of course, now I need to go out and buy more yarn and project books because I'm feeling so inspired.
And no, I didn't get to watch Big Brother yet, so don't tell me what's going on. I have to watch it the minute I get home. (but I confess... I already read the recaps. see how I am?)
I'm still feeling a little yucky. A couple more days of medicine and I should be better, right? RIGHT?
A few of us rode the light rail train at lunch the other day - from downtown to the end of the line at Fort Snelling and back again. It's still not a practical option for me - there are no park and rides at the points where I'd catch the train - but if they ever put one between the Twin Cities I'd consider it.
Note to self: don't steal a parking spot at the Mall.
Note to self 2: if you don't do laundry soon, you won't be able to leave the house. So that's what I'll be doing this evening. Ciao.
I am feeling a little better - medicine is a wonderful thing, ain't it? Still not 100%, but I have to go to work for a while, anyway. And tonight I'm going to a knitting group.
Sometimes I just have to look through FARK.com. All the new, different, and just plain weird stories, all in one place. Such as:
You mean the Nigerian email was a scam??? Heh.
I love Granny's line: Accidents sometimes happen, especially when you are dealing with dumb-ass teenagers.
I got one wrong on the Indecency Quiz - which gave me a score of -Infinity. Interesting, though... and a little too much government.
Moral of the story: never try to climb under a gate while naked.
Someone needs to tell me when it became acceptable to solve an argument by firing a gun at someone. I must have missed the memo..
Ewww! Ewwww! Ewwwwwwww!
This is cool, but I must confess - dolphins freak me out just a little bit. Look at that picture! Scary...
Controversy on Australia's Big Brother.. Say, Dame!, do you know what starts tonight? Hooo Yeah! BIG BROTHER!! (and yes, you will be watching this with me!)
Told ya. There's never any REAL news after a long holiday weekend, anyway. Have a good day, bellas. Ciao.
I am a sicklet. Home in my jammies.
Everyone feel sorry for me.
Hmmm. Tell me again why I didn't take today off? The good news is, though, that today will be slow - so it's like a freebie day.
Don't wanna see it. Not even a little bit.
And I'm late in saying this - but RIP Marlon Brando.
And you never get through a 4th of July weekend without a story about someone getting hurt or killed by fireworks. Someone was shooting off bottle rockets down on the street at 3:00 this morning. Idiots. I want to track them down now and wake them up for work. Ahh - sweet revenge!
It's looking cloudy and quiet out there this morning. Have a good day, all. Ciao.
It's Friday (REAL Friday), so I must be on vacation. I have (yet another) visit to the doc this morning, then all play, all the time. CuzGirl and I are going to Taste of MN this afternoon.
You go, Bill Cosby. And when you get done with those kids, I want you to go after the OTHER punks in my neighborhood! My favorite line in that story is "There comes a time when we have to turn the mirror around..." - and that's true for EVERYONE.
And now, on a lighter note, there's always the 40-pound bratwurst...
This girl needs a lot of therapy. I hope she uses her probation time to get it.
More evidence that NBC is completely falling apart.
I just bought Fantasia's debut single on iTunes this morning. It's good!
Maybe it's time to re-exam the jury system.
I never realized this.. But the clock on my desk has "IIII" on it.
Time to getta you move on, as Dad would say. Have an excellent day. Ciao!
Now this is really cool! They "automatically" maneuvered this spacecraft from 900 MILLION miles away. Yes, I'm a space geek. There are more pictures here.
Joan Rivers looks more and more like a mannequin every day.
Show of hands: anyone else MORE than tired of hearing about this? Yeah, I thought so.
Another space-geek story.
NOW it's summer. Taste of Minnesota starts up today. CuzGirl and I will venture over for a bit of people watching.
Buh-Bye Antti Laaksonen.
I'm all messed up, because we went for chinese food last night. At about 10:30 PM, I was absolutely convinced that it was Friday. Because I have the REAL Friday off, today will seem like Friday at work. Pretty much every day should be Friday. and just type that word one more time, chele... :)
I'm quite excited about the "Annual July 4th Picnic Always Held Prior to the 4th" - at Como on Saturday. There will be pictures, I'm sure.
Have a great day. Ciao, Bellas.
