EEEEEEK! It's like "Weekend at Bernie's" ... but it's REAL LIFE!

Just in case you were wondering. Isn't the internet a great thing? All this knowledge right at our fingertips.

Well, Duh. This was obvious to those of us who live near bus hubs. There was less loitering and general thug-i-ness (is that a word?) during the bus strike. I wonder where they all hung out to do their thug thing during the strike? Were they just sitting at home, all bored and saying to themselves "I can hardly wait until the strike is over, so I can go cause trouble at the transit hub again"?

Whoo hoo! The new Farmers Market opens this weekend! CuzGirl and I will be bringing Mom-M there in a couple weeks. I'll go scope it out for us this week.

This kid has used up all the miracles in his lifetime.

My back hurts, so I'm moving slowly today. I think I messed it up moving tables around. I'm too old to do this anymore! Ciao.

I'm still playing with the camera and the new settings. Let me know if this one takes forever to load.

I don't think that American Idol's voters or racist or that the competition is rigged. Now that John Stevens is out of the competition, things are a little more on-track. He may be a good kid and all that, but man, he's just not a good singer! I predict that Jasmine will go next week.

Much hoopla, and then nothing. And I was hoping that Mickey Mouse would be running my cable company...

It's troubling that the city can block cave entrances only to find that people have dug new ones the next day. New rule - if you get stuck in a cave, the city doesn't have to come and get you out. (this is why it's a good thing that I don't run for city government).

Happy Birthday shouts to Good Ol'CuzBoy. I'll never be so old as you - or quite so lovely. (heh heh.. I'm sure he appreciates that).

Ciao, Bellas. Have a beauty day.

First song on my iTunes this morning: Hubba Hubba Zoot Zoot! I don't even know where I got this - but it makes me laugh. You just can't be in a bad mood when you hear it... it's so ridiculous!

Really sad stuff in my neighborhood yesterday - stay outta the caves, kids.

And unless you are just taking a pleasant walk along the river, stay out of Crosby Park. Don't be doin' that outside.

Perhaps Billy Joel should stop driving now. Don't run into Grandma's house.

Yes, it really is 4 AM and I'm up. Yet another early morning move - but I guess it's better to get them done early and get them out of the way. The last big move is this weekend. I might actually live through this.

Have an excellent day. Ciao.

Welcome to Spring!

Life has been too much about work lately. And work has been all about people griping and complaining. And that makes me gripe and complain to the people in MY life... and it's a big old vicious circle. I'm going to keep making the conscious effort to not complain.. and if you catch me doing that, stop me.

Onward! I'll talk to youse all later. Ciao.

Uncle is doing better.. he actually came around a bit yesterday. Like I said, he's the strongest old guy in the world.

I bought this camera yesterday. It's perfect.

The world is a little less beautiful today - RIP Estee Lauder.

On to another week. Ciao, Bellas.

I'm just never going to be able to sleep late again, am I? It's another early morning. Yesterday the move went well. When it was nearly over, I got a call saying that my favorite UncleMan is in the hospital and not doing well. He's the toughest old man I've ever met.. he's not going down without a fight. No news as of this morning, but if you think of it, send some good thoughts his way.

I'm with them in spirit. I'm mostly a moderate-to-conservative girl now, (compared to the knee-jerk liberal I was when I was younger.. but owning and losing your own business will do that to you) but on two issues - gay rights and abortion - I'm just about as far to the left as you can go.

I have no words.

Have a most excellent day! Ciao.

I wasn't gonna blog this morning, because I have to meet the movers at 6:30... but this was just too good to resist. What. The. Hell?

Updates later today.... Ciao.

I'm all messed up on my days now, because we had chinese food last night.. that's supposed to signal the end of the week for me! But it's a late move tonight (I think) and then up early on Saturday to finish.

I'm in the market for a new digital camera. I'm looking at this one. No fancy bells or whistles or camera-setting-type things. I want something easy to use and something small enough to just toss in my purse. Next week we'll go to a real camera store and look at some.

That's it, my friends. Have an adequate day. Ciao.

Hold on, while I tip over from NOT surprise.

This is tacky. Let Diana be.

It's a no-lose proposition: you should be voting anyway... you may as well get a free iTune out of it. I love Ben & Jerry's as much as the next girl, but I just won't stand in line forever to get a free cone.

I've tried not to go on and on about American Idol... but WOW. The three 'divas' - who rightfully should have been the top three were in the bottom three, and one was voted off. It's kind of funny, really. The looks on their faces! They had been so smug (oh yeah - we're the greatest!) - when they figured out that one of them was going home, they were completely shocked. It's really not about the singing anymore.

I'm off to (yet another) early start. If only I could END earlier as well. Have an excellent day. Ciao.

Good Morning. It's Spring now, because it's been raining for forty days and forty nights. Well, two days and nights, anyway.

You learn more by accident while reading through blogs than you do from other places on purpose. Example: I learned today from Freakgirl that Curves is run by born-again-type-people. Whether that's good, bad or indifferent is up to the individual... but it's one of those facts that's important to know before you start spending money.

And Mitch Berg over at Shot in the Dark has a great piece on the insufferable Nick Coleman.

Check out this car. It looks like an iPod on wheels. Personally, I'll be going for the Beetle convertible.

Okay, that's it. Registering prom dresses? It's all madness now. Good God, the world might end if two girls from the same school wore the same dress. At my senior prom, one of my best friends and I ended up wearing the same dress, and - gasp! - we all lived and had a great time. Of course, that was in the olden' days before limos and grand marches...

That's it! Go forth and take over the world. Or something. Ciao.

I got nothin'- no pictures, no words, nothin'! Go read the next entry - what I wrote last night about work... Ciao.

I get asked a lot of questions at work every day.. but never more than the day after I've put a department into a newly constructed office. I'm always cheerful, kind and courteous... but the statements listed below are what I really want to say. Keep in mind, these are all based on actual questions that were asked of me today:

* no, of course i won't fix that broken lock.
* no, i don't want to fix your card so you can get access to the suite. i don't want you to get in.
* coffee maker? why no, i hadn't planned on installing one in the breakroom. or a pop machine either.
* will we have carpet/cubes on the rest of the floor where i haven't moved people in yet? no. i thought they'd enjoy sitting on the bare floor without a desk.
* why, no, i hadn't noticed that it was 85 degrees in the suite and the fans aren't running.
* no, i'm not going to pick up the moving boxes. i'm just going to let them pile up around you on the floor.
* yes, all you get in your cube is one corner and one work surface. i'm not going to finish it. i thought you'd enjoy sitting in a half-done cube.
* as a matter of fact, i'd PLANNED to not have the restrooms clean. there's nothing better than a dirty restroom.
* no, i want to leave the elevator lobby unfinished. it looks much nicer that way.

Whooooeee - did we have storms yesterday or what? It was hot, summery and sunny up until about 5:00, then wham - lightning, thunder, and sirens. NOW it's summer.. spring lasted about a day and a half.

And Whooooee part two - is my hair SHORT or what? The up-side is that I won't need a trim again for a while. It was a long ordeal - it took her three tries to get the owner/teacher to give her the okay on the cut (hence the short hair.. if she had kept making mistakes I'd be Sinead-like by now). It ended well, since the owner himself ended up finishing the cut for me. I got a $100 cut for free, and they wouldn't even let me tip any them.

The bus strike is over. Terrific. It will take about one day 'til the downtown bus stops are trashed.

Okay - about 3 fire trucks just came screaming down the street and stopped right in front of my building. No alarms have gone off yet, but I shut the bedroom door so that cats don't dive for under the bed if they do. God, I'm so sick of this place. I've lived here for 10-freakin'-years and the fire alarms have gone off 4 times... 3 of those times have been in the last two months. It's all good that I'm moving.
15 minutes later: It looks like they're packing up to leave now, so I can get in the shower with no fear. Or can I? It's always a crap-shoot. Have an excellent day, kids. Ciao.

Weekend Update:

Worked yesterday from 6:00 - 12:00..it was fairly uneventful -I just logged into my e-mail and voicemail and I don't have any panicked messages, so I'm going to assume that everything is okay at least for today. I had a little time after work to tidy up and snooze, then we got a little dinner, had a little adult beverage and people watching time... it was all good. Today, I'm getting my hair cut (for free!) as a model for a new stylist-in-training. There's the tiniest part of me that wants to cut it really short again.. but I'm getting a little too old for extremes!

Ciao, bellas. Have a most glorious day.

I love this story! The cop's line about drinking "some fancy coffee drink with steamed milk" made me laugh.

I heard from my new place - application is processed and I'm on the waiting list. I talked to one of my moving vendors, and she and I are getting together in a couple of weeks for dinner and a walk-thru. I'm too old to move all my own stuff anymore, and I refuse to put my friends through it. One of the advantages of being a grown-up with money is getting to pay professionals to move your belongings. I don't think it will be too expensive, seeing as it is one block from door to door. Wonder if I could get them to just push everything down the street??

I got home last night, plunked down on the couch at 7:00, and read for 3 hours. Well, read and snoozed. I'm so tired all the time. It might be time to start up with the iron pills again - yeeeech. It's gonna be a run like mad day to get everything ready for the next department move tomorrow. This is an especially huge one, because the reception desk and all the mail room/office supply boxes have to go, too. I looked into the room where they've been putting their stuff... there's gotta be a hundred boxes in there so far. It'll be a long day tomorrow.
Better get to it, then, Have a beautiful day - Ciao.

Seiler is going to be charged with obstruction of justice. You've gotta feel for her a little bit - she's obviously in need of help. But you can't involve the police and the entire community just because you're losing your boyfriend.

I'm no slow poke. Mine are done and sent. Usually I wait until 10pm on the 15th, but since I was out and about anyway last night I figured I should send 'em.

Speaking of out and about - I went to the bookstore last night and picked up a copy of The Number 1 Ladies' Detective Agency on cuzgirl's recommendation. I'm just finishing up Angry Housewives Eating BonBons.. also very good. Time to plan spring/summer reading, you know!

Check it out - a new and updated farmers' market.

Ramping up for (yet another) move - this time 33 people. It doesn't matter, though... 13, 33 or 130 - it's all just chaos. I'm almost done with it.
Ciao! Have a good day.

I don't think I like the idea of Google scanning my e-mail. I won't be signing up.

Fox must have changed their minds at the last minute, because my TiVo didn't have the change yet. I confess - I didn't listen to much of GW.. I was snoozing through most of it.

Oooh - That Christopher Plummer! I still think he's pretty good-lookin'...Never more handsome than when he was Captain VonTrapp.

TwinCities.com is now requiring registration, just like the StarTribune. Sorry about that. I must say, though, that I've never gotten stuff I didn't ask for from the Trib. Hopefully the St. Paul paper will be the same.

What an incredible young woman.

Check out the item about halfway down the page..the 14 year old who was refusing to go to school. If my kid ever did that, well, I would tell the cops to just lock her up for a couple of days! (if it's an indication of how the kid is all the time, the mom could probably use the break..)

Have a pleasant-enough day... Ciao.

I forgot one random thought yesterday: the OTHER best moment of the day is when you finally crawl into bed and you just ... relax ... for the first time all day.

If I don't move into my new place, I want one of these.

Whoo Hoo! John Stamos is available - and this time he'll be all mine!

The crazy lady is going to defend herself. Good. That'll ensure a conviction.

Ciao, Bellas.

Good Day. I've read through all my usual pages of the morning and cannot find one item of note on which to report. Here, then, are just a few random thoughts:

1. You know that one moment - just after the alarm goes off, but before all the thoughts of what you have to face in the day ahead hits you? That's the best moment of the day.
2. Assuming that my application is accepted, I'm moving to the new place. Just because I haven't had quite enough fun packing and moving 400 people.
3. It's 32 degrees out there this morning, and I'm too lazy to turn the heat back on. So I'm walking around with 2 sweatshirts and a quilt on.
4. Progressive Insurance rocks.
5. I bought some Iris (Irises?) on Friday. They're gorgeous, and I think I should always have some around.

Onward! Ciao.

Happy Hippity Hoppity Day. Or Happy Spring Day. Or Whatever Day You Wish To Call It.

Honest to God, I'm so sick of hearing about Janet Jackson... Enough, already!

Marilyn Manson is engaged. I'm not. What the hell is wrong with me?!

What's the inevitable joke here? All together now: "They died of embarassment".

This won't mean anything to most people- but back when I was in high school, I thought that he was about 70 years old. Turns out he was only in his 40s!!

The move yesterday went well. We've got it down to a science now. The guys arrive, we run around like maniacs for 4 hours, then we're done. I was exhausted last night, though. I fell asleep on the couch at 8:30. Such is my exciting life.

Time for a little more spring cleaning. Have a most excellent day. Ciao.

It's ungodly early, and I'm up slamming coffee getting ready for the move.

Do you want to know the states I've visited? I thought so. Take a look:

create your own personalized map of the USA

Must.have.more.coffee. Ciao, kids. I'll tell you move stories later.

Today the unthinkable happened - I am out of coffee. I actually realized this last night at about 11:00 as I was starting to get ready for bed, when it was far too late to go out and buy any. In a vain attempt to get some caffeine into my system, I'm slamming down this chai tea stuff.. it may or may not be working to get me up and running.

In MRI news - yes, I have a brain. No, there's nothing wrong with it, except for migraine headaches. A prescription for Imitrex and I'm good to go.

Another office move this weekend. Just 14 people, but they're the executive group, so everything has to go well. It's supposed to - ahem - SNOW this weekend, too. Whatever!

That's what I've got for now. Ciao.

When work is this busy all the time, I get to Thursday and I can barely function... I stumble around in the kitchen, eyes half open, trying to get coffee into the cup and then into me. God, I need a vacation.

I saw the TV vans that were covering this story on the way home last night. Moral of the story: stay out of chimneys...

Another article about Joan of Arcadia - the best show on TV right now.

Speaking of TV - buh-bye Camile on American Idol last night... finally. How John Stevens (red headed crooner-guy) is still on is a mystery to me. This is the weakest year ever for idols.

Ciao.

There's something going on with my web host. The past two evenings when I've tried to get into my site, I get a 403-Forbidden message. Sorry if you've had trouble.

I tried to watch Wonderfalls. Got about 10 minutes into it, and had to turn it off. What the hell? I like a good quirky show as much as the next girl (no one loved St. Elsewhere or Northern Exposure more than me) - but this one was just over the top.

This little boy is a genius... or else he's really the owners' teeny tiny dad in disguise!

Nice to see that some priests have moved on past the kid thing and onto better things like geef. (yeah... I'm way over that catholic thing now).

She faked her own abduction, cost the city about $100,000 in expenses, people came from everywhere to look for her - and she's gonna get a $100 fine.

It's spring! The ice is out on Lake Minnetonka. Won't be long now 'til we can go sit at Fletchers, drink in hand, watching the boats.

Ciao, bellas. Have a more-than-adequate day.

The MRI was a little loud. I guess if they're lookin' at your head you can't be wearing headphones (which always made it a little easier to relax when I had the MRIs on my knee). The staff at Woodwinds is first rate, though, and the hospital itself is really nice - for a hospital, that is. You walk in, and it just feels calm. Who knows? maybe it's the feng shui... The neuro appointment in the afternoon was okay, too: looked in my eyes, hit my knee with the little hammer thing, walk on my toes, walk on my heels, etc. Maybe neurologists enjoy making people do silly things. I'll let you know when I hear anything.

I have a hard time believing that 58% of Minnesotans say they'd ban gay marriage. Most of the time it seems like we're the most liberal state on the planet. I'm guessing, though, that the numbers start to vary depending on if you're polling in the city or outstate.

The thing I don't like about daylight savings time is that it takes away my morning light for a while. It's a little harder to get motivated.

Thus ends my random thoughts for the morning. You can read my little rant about the truck-driving jerk below. Have a grand day - Ciao.

To the driver of the truck from Dedicated Logistics of St. Paul, driving eastbound on 94 at approximately 7:45 this evening:

The speed limit is 55, and I was going 60 in the center lane. No need to ride my tail and flash your brights at me, asshole.

Oh, and by the way, I called in your license number to the Highway Patrol and your truck number to above named Dedicated Logistics of St. Paul.

Have a pleasant evening.

Silly me. I'm assuming that this idiot actually has a computer, an internet connection and the ability to read.

That is all.

Welcome to another week. I'm going to the neurologist today and in for the MRI tonight. Maybe by the end of the week I'll know more about the migraines. Or at least I'll be secure in knowing that I do, indeed, have a brain in my head.

The Gophers never really looked like they had a chance last night. But good for them - they've gotten farther than any other Lady Gopher team.

Speaking of New Orleans (where the Gophs played) - Last night I dreamed that John Goodman (yes, that one - from Roseann and The West Wing) was my travel agent, and that he had made arrangement for me to fly into New Orleans and stay in the French Quarter. The other part of my trip involved taking a series of train rides from New Orleans to other cities across the country - Memphis and Tulsa are two that I remember - but I had to drive from New Orleans to all these other places to get on the train! I didn't want to do that, but John Goodman said that it was okay, he had rented a silver Renault for me to drive to the other stations! What the hell does that dream mean??

This article about time makes me laugh... And yes, CuzGirl, you live on German time.

When we were driving to dinner on Saturday, we saw all the cowboys and cowgirls heading to the X to see Kenny Chesney. We figured it was either a country western concert or that it was cowboy hat night for the Wild!

Read here about Lori and Julia, my two favorite radio girls.

I love this time of the year... Get out there and enjoy springtime, bellas. Ciao.

Yesterday was 6-1/2 hours of total chaos, followed by nap, hot shower, and steak at Mancini's. So definitely, the second half of the day was more enjoyable than the first... although I have quite the wine-o headache this morning. How many glasses of wine did I have, anyway?

Mac and I were talking about the whole getting attention thing associated with the Seiler case. She was a big deal in her small hometown.. when you get to college, though, it's a different gig. Yep - get her some help.

Why are the religious ones always killing their children?

Note, please, how the Wild are nowhere to be found in any playoff scenario. I'm sad.

Here is the winner of the most tasteless - yet funny - window display award.

It's gorgeous out there today, I'm gonna go play. Have an excellent day. Ciao.

Goodest Morning to you. It's move weekend. Today will be manic panic, and tomorrow will be more of the same. My reward for all that will be a faboo dinner on Saturday. I need to have a goal toward which to strive.

This light rail line is just never gonna happen. Even if it does get off the ground...it doesn't run where 99% of the people here live/work. What a waste.

Let me say it once again: "christians" are the meanest people in the world. Just read some of the things they said to this woman. And the completely ironic thing is - don't you think if Jesus was here on earth right now.. he'd be working with the poor, the disenfranchised, those in need - probably even some GAY people, folks. I don't get it. Not one bit.

Not a surprise. Although, he couldn't have been totally insane - he was figuring out how to draw a smiley face on a map...

Man, get this guy (the former judge) on some better medication.

Still more questions than answers in the Seiler case. I agree with the student quoted in the article - people don't know if there really is some armed/dangerous guy out there targeting young women. That sketch and description could be of about 90% of the guys in a Wisconsin college town.

Mike Hatch is spinning, spinning, spinning.

So - Here I go. Wish me luck. Ciao.

Check it out - Audrey Seiler, missing since Saturday, was found alive. Still all kinds of unanswered questions though. I listened to the news conference on the way home, and they weren't answering many questions.

Another not-surprise moment. The Hatch sisters are dropping their complaint against the police. Time for a little spin-dry, I think.

Didn't listen, don't care.

I can't even speak about what happened in Fallujah yesterday.. not without the words "nuke the whole place" appearing in the sentence.

I bought Nellie McKay "Get Away From Me" from iTunes last night. Have listened to 11 of 18 songs so far, and like all of 'em so far.

At work, I'm gearing up for the next 5 weeks of moves. I get a headache just thinking about it (they really don't need to do the MRI on me. the headaches are all about stress - i know that). Today, though, will be a good day. CuzGirl told me so, and she is one of the wisest women on the planet. Ciao.
